Michelle Rodriguez, 48, did not go there to talk about this. She was in Los Angeles, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Fast & Furious, when she was asked about Hayden Panettiere.
Her response was different from what one would expect in a tribute. She first recalled Hayden’s curiosity and joy, with whom she co-hosted the World Music Awards in 2010.
But immediately, without a filter, she blurted out what many in the industry think and few say aloud: “I can’t stand how many young people we’ve been losing lately. It’s disheartening, and it makes me wonder: what’s going on? It’s not normal”.

Hayden died on August 16, 2026, at the age of 36, in Greenville, South Carolina. There is still no official cause of death. Rodriguez was clear that she did not want to speculate, but she left one figure hanging in the air: from 2010 to today, she said, the number of young stars who have died is simply too high.
