“I love you, Nana”. ❤️ That is what her 6-year-old granddaughter wrote above a simple drawing of the two of them holding hands. To her grandmother, it might have looked like little more than a couple of figures drawn in childish strokes, but it meant so much more: it was a small representation of the loving family she had always dreamed of having.

That is why she decided she did not want to keep that drawing in a drawer. She took it to a tattoo artist and asked them to reproduce the same strokes the girl had made on her arm, including her handwriting, without trying to perfect them or turn them into something more elaborate.

When her granddaughter saw the result, she was fascinated. Her drawing was no longer only on a sheet of paper: her grandmother had decided to carry it with her every day.

The decision even caused problems with her husband, who rejected the tattoo and went so far as to ask her to have it removed. But to her, it had a meaning that went far beyond the ink.

Because perhaps to everyone else, they are just two little stick figures and some words written by a child. To this grandmother, it is the way her granddaughter saw her at 6 years old, preserved exactly like that forever. 🥹
