The C6 vertebra is one of the seven cervical vertebrae that make up our neck and, together with the others, helps support the head, protect the spinal cord, and enable a large part of the movements we constantly make.
But probably none of that would have made C6 an internet star if it weren’t for one small detail: seen from a certain angle, its anatomy seems to form a smiling face.
The coincidence ended up inspiring a meme that has racked up millions of views and found a rather sweet —and absurd— way to look at our anatomy: when you feel like no one can stand you, at least you can remember that you’ve spent your whole life with a little “happy face” helping support you.
