Pentagon Reveals New Details in Nidal Hasan Case Ahead of Scheduled Execution

Trump Approves Nidal Hasan’s Execution Nearly 17 Years After Fort Hood Shooting

Nearly 17 years after the deadly Fort Hood shooting, President Donald Trump has approved former Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan’s death sentence. According to the article, the Army has scheduled his execution by firing squad for December 3, 2026, at Fort Hood, Texas.

Hasan was convicted in 2013 of killing 13 people and wounding 32 others in the November 5, 2009, attack. The former Army psychiatrist was sentenced to death by a military jury, and his case continued through years of legal appeals before the latest announcement.

The decision has sparked further controversy because the Pentagon has also announced plans to livestream the execution. Supporters argue that the punishment reflects accountability for the crimes, while critics—including Hasan’s former defense lawyer John Galligan—have questioned whether broadcasting an execution turns justice into a public spectacle.

If carried out as scheduled, Hasan’s execution would be the first U.S. military execution since 1961. However, the broadcast arrangements remain unclear, and further legal developments could affect the timetable. As the debate continues, the 13 people killed and 32 wounded remain at the heart of the tragedy and its lasting impact on families and survivors.
