Trump Demands Omar Resign From Congress After New Findings

President Donald Trump is intensifying pressure on ‘Squad’ Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar following a Department of Homeland Security raid on her DC home last week.Trump said Thursday she should resign over allegations she used a false name when entering Congress.“So it’s not looking good because she used a fake name to be sworn in,” Trump said in Iowa.“I assume she must immediately have to resign from Congress.”The president delivered the comments during a rally in Sioux City supporting Republican candidates ahead of the midterm elections. He pointed supporters toward House Speaker Mike Johnson while asserting that Democrats had effectively surrendered Omar’s congressional seat.“That the Democrat Party has just conceded her seat,” Trump said. That was the president’s characterization, rather than an announcement from Omar, Democratic leaders or election officials.Trump also repeated allegations involving Omar’s former husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, and mocked her response during a television interview. His remarks followed an October 21 federal filing identifying the congresswoman using an alternative name.
