Bryan Randall asked Sandra Bullock for just one thing: that no one know he had ALS.
She kept that promise for three years, while he quietly faded away inside their own home in Los Angeles. At first, only his sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, knew the truth; later, she confided in Jennifer Aniston and Amanda Anka. Bullock said on the SmartLess podcast that she began grieving Bryan four years before he died on August 5, 2023, at the age of 57. She said caring for him during the pandemic felt like raising a third child, in the midst of a period she described as very dark.
They were together for eight years, starting when he photographed her son Louis’s birthday in 2015. The 62-year-old actress kept that love away from the cameras until now, when she decided to share what it means to love someone while gradually saying goodbye.
